**The Appalachian Entrepreneurship Academy is an experiential learning opportunity for Appalachian high school students, designed to cultivate creativity and develop essential skills for entrepreneurship. **Participating students develop their business ideas to address challenges and strengthen communities across Appalachia, concluding with a pitch presentation to an audience of entrepreneurs.
**In partnership with Appalachian State University, EntreED and STEM West, the program prepares the next generation of entrepreneurial leaders and thinkers by fostering innovative ideas that will benefit Appalachian economies and communities.

**The Appalachian STEM Academy at Oak Ridge is a residential, hands-on learning experience that has pioneered access to STEM-related research opportunities for Appalachia’s middle and high school students and teachers for 30+ years.
**Participating students work with award-winning scientists at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, a U.S. Department of Energy research facility, on guided group science, math, computer science and technology projects; participating teachers collaborate with STEM practitioners to develop STEM-related curriculum for their students.
**The program provides students – many of whom come from economically distressed counties – with valuable exposure to applied STEM education, concluding with a graduation ceremony where participants showcase their work.

The link to register will be active starting December 14th. Both programs have an online application which goes directly to ARC. If an applicant doesn’t have reliable internet access and is unable to complete the application at school, they can forward the information to jlench@pa.gov and she will complete the application on their behalf.

These programs should be targeted to the student that has not had any similar opportunities, nor would their families be able to send their students to this type of experience. These programs are appropriate for students that have average grades in school.
